No.7 Boys' House

Peter and Alison Gray
No.7 is an energetic, friendly house in which new boys can quickly feel very much at home.  Peter Gray, a long-standing member of staff, took over the running of the house in 2005.   He has previously been co-ordinator of extra-curricular activities in the school and Head of Mathematics.  For some time he has coached the school’s Fives teams and taken them on tour where they have achieved considerable success.  Together with his wife Alison, he aims to ensure that the boys in No.7 continue to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by this traditional boarding school, to discover their talents and to help them achieve their potential.

No.7 Charity Walk

The last Sunday of term saw the No.7 charity walk from Bewdley back to Malvern. All those in the House who had not left after exams, took part.    Thirty-two miles is a very long distance to try and cover in one day.  Having to rise before 7am on the last Sunday of term is also asking a lot.  It was therefore impressive to see the enthusiasm for the venture from all involved and a collective determination to complete the course.  In the end only three of those who started needed to drop out.  The fastest completed it in under 8 hours, the final few came in at just over 11 hours.  Thanks to the generosity of parents, staff and pupils over £1500 was raised for charity.
One of the most memorable parts of the day was to see the Spanish and German boys, who had strolled the first 25 miles without a care, suddenly increase the pace and actually run the final stretch to ensure they were back in time for the European Cup final.

Cwm Llwch trip and Charity Walk

One of the highlights of the school year for any House is the visit to Cwm Llwch the school’s cottage in Wales.  As you can see from the pictures we could not have picked a better weekend to look for leaches in the lake or cool off under the waterfalls.  There was also time of course for the usual balloon rugby in the upstairs dormitory.

No 7 Big Charity Walk.

The seniors in No 7 are hoping to walk from Bewdley back to Malvern in a single day.  The distance is about 32miles.  They are intending to raise money for a local hospice and Cord: a charity that aims to help communities disrupted by war and violence.  The school pledged to support this charity following a visit by Richard Dickonson at the start of the Lent term.  They will have to leave the House by 7am in order to start walking by 8am, hopefully some will return in time for supper

After 13 miles have been completed the senior walkers will be joined by some junior members of the House keen to complete the final 19 miles.
