No.8 Girls' House

The facilities at No.8 are excellent where all girls enjoy the spacious accommodation. Pam Richardson, their Housemistress, organises regular social events for the girls as well as evening functions, which enable parents to get to know each other.  It is a warm and friendly house, a welcoming place where the aim is to provide all girls with care and facilities that will enable them to enjoy school and make the very best of their time at Malvern College.

Pam has been at the College since 1992 when she moved to Malvern from Ellerslie School as a teacher of French and Italian. Pam and her husband Andy have four children, Daniel, Laura, Lydia and Richard, and as a family they are all fans of rugby in general and Gloucester Rugby Club in particular. Pam’s other main interests are playing the piano, walking, good food and wines.

In early June, a group of 10 No. 8 girls, accompanied by 5 adults from the house team spent the weekend at Cwm Llwch.  The weather was fine, the food was good – a splendid evening was spent by the campfire and the morning walk to the (allegedly) nearby lake was idyllic.  There was time for the girls to spell out a cheerful message from the hillside to their housemistress and her assistant using only their bodies and impressive teamwork.
Earlier in the week the Hundred had enjoyed a leavers’ tea where they bid emotional farewells to three of their number who will not be rejoining the sixth form, and the usual termly birthday supper also took place, featuring a barbecue and outdoor games provided by Miss Kay.
