The Junior Play

Under the watchful eye of Neil Smith (Director of Drama), Rupert Dembrey (9) and Béla Bufe (9) spent the weeks following half term after their IB examinations had finished, casting, organising and directing the Junior Play, ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’. All those long hours and hard work paid off since the production was a huge success and was thoroughly enjoyed by adults and pupils alike. The stage was dominated by an enormous tree with doors into the famous wardrobe - the doorway into Narnia. This set the magical scene for the whole play. The caste did a magnificent job and particular mention should be made of Aslan (played by George Lacey), the Professor (Poppy Andrews) and the four children Hugo de Haan (Peter), Daisy Welch (Susan), Will Hudson (Edmund) and Hebe Dickins (Lucy), each of whom did a spectacular job drawing the audience into the fantastical world of elfs, goblins, giants, witches and wolves. The professionalism of the play was impressive and could only confirm Rupert's and Béla's own passion for the theatre.
