Settling in is easy

Settling in to life at Malvern College is easy. A well formulated induction programme aims to calm any nerves or anxieties that a new boy or girl may have. The key to settling in easily is the atmosphere in the House. During the first twenty-four hours, before the rest of the House arrive, new members of the House are able to settle in with a minimum of fuss and personal attention from the Housemaster or Housemistress. On arrival each Foundation Year ( year 9 ) or Remove ( year 10 ) pupil has his or her own space in a study and all Sixth Form entrants have their own study bedroom, or as a day pupil, their own study. When the existing members of the House arrive they quickly make friends with the new arrivals who soon appreciate the warm homely atmosphere. Read more...

Co-Curriculum at Malvern

At Malvern College a pupil’s education is not limited to the academic curriculum.  Out of class the College has much to offer, and there are many opportunities to try new things.  This counter-balance is known as the Co-Curriculum.

Within the Co-Curriculum we believe in taking the concept of caring for others out into the local community.  Some of the activities undertaken under the aegis of Community Service (CS) benefit the  school, (e.g. re-cycling, theatre help), but most serve the broader community and are aimed at responding to the needs of the local people.
We have liased closely with Malvern Community Action, Age Concern, Malvern Hills Conservators and Malvern Hills Homeless Young Adults Trust. Additionally a successful venture has been the provision of foreign students who run language clubs in about a dozen local primary Schools.  Read more...

Chapel

Malvern College Chapel, designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield RA and dedicated in 1899, stands physically in the heart of the campus: its role is at the spiritual heart of the College as well. Weekday Chapel allows the College community to meet as a unit and to share reflections on themes both within the Christian tradition and in a broader spiritual context. Sunday worship centres upon the College eucharist, with evensong, Carol services and the annual Act of Remembrance adding to our life of common worship. The Chapel itself is open during the day and there is a smaller Crypt Chapel. Both provide a sanctuary for private reflection and prayer.

The College Chaplain, the Rev'd Andrew Law conducts worship and maintain close links with pupils through the classroom and regular visits to the Houses. He is always happy to make time for private discussion, consultation and a friendly word.
