It is always a pleasure to welcome former pupils back to Malvern College Preparatory School (formerly Hillstone), whether they left recently, and come back from their senior schools to visit, or some time ago. In some cases, former pupils now have their own children and even grandchildren here as current pupils!
The Old Hillstonian Association organises reunions at the school. The last such gathering was well attended by forty former Hillstone pupils, some of whom had been at Hillstone as far back as the 1930s, the majority of whom had not previously visited our new site, and we were all richly entertained by a fund of fascinating stories about the school in that and subsequent eras.
The OHs and their wives were given guided tours of the school by current pupils, and all were particularly impressed by the range of activities and facilities the school now offers.
An excellent lunch was provided at ‘The Grub’, Malvern College, where we were joined by OHs currently in the Upper and Lower 6th at the senior school, and by Mr and Mrs Norman Rosser (former Chairman of the Hillstone Management Committee) and Mr and Mrs Ken Hughes (former Deputy Head), who association with Hillstone goes back thirty-five years!
Plans for a further reunion are in hand, as well as an OH newsletter to keep Old Hillstonians in touch with developments.
Roger Gillard, Hon. Sec. Malvern College Preparatory School & Old Hillstonian Association
