AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
Awards are given to pupils who show academic excellence and also to pupils who, in addition to being academically competent, have a particular talent in art, drama, technology, music or physical education.
These awards are available to pupils from both maintained-sector and independent schools, as well as to internal Malvern College Preparatory School candidates. (11+ awards are available to pupils at independent schools which finish at age 11.)
AWARDS AT 7+
There are several Junior Awards available at 7+. These awards are offered to suitably qualified pupils progressing into Year 3. Pupils must be aged 7 in September of the same year. These are tenable during the pupil’s stay at the Prep School, (i.e. until the age of 13). More details are available in the preceding Autumn Term.
AWARDS AT 11+
There are several Senior Awards available at 11+. These awards are offered to suitably qualified pupils progressing into Year 7. Pupils must be aged 11 in September of the same year. Senior Awards are ‘continuation’ awards tenable for seven years, i.e. two years at Malvern College Preparatory School and then to the end of the VIth form in the Senior School of Malvern College. There are also Junior Awards available at 11+ and these are tenable during the pupil’s stay at Malvern College Prep School, i.e. until the age of 13. More details are available in the preceding Autumn Term.
AWARDS AT 13+
There are up to 20 academic awards offered for Malvern College. They range from Scholarships of up to 50% of the fees to exhibitions of a lesser value. Candidates for all Scholarships must be under 14 years of age on 1st September in the year of the examination but there is no age limit for Exhibitions. More details of these Scholarships are sent to Year 8 parents at the end of the Autumn Term.
MALVERN COLLEGE ASSISTED PLACES (MCAPS)
The aim of Malvern College Assisted Places is to offer assistance to parents of talented pupils who cannot otherwise afford to send their children to Malvern College Preparatory School.
MCAPs are open to pupils who are very talented academically, and also to pupils who, in addition to being academically bright, have a particular strength in art, drama, technology, music or physical education. Application for MCAPs may be made by external candidates and by eligible Malvern College Preparatory School pupils aged between 7 and 13.
Although examinations are held on a specific date each year, applications may be made at any time during the year. Parents of pupils entered for MCAPs will be means tested.
MCAPs are reviewed on an annual basis both academically and financially: academically via staff assessment and internal school examinations, and financially via family details.
