Malvern College Pre-Prep prides itself on promoting positive attitudes in all aspects of learning, fostering an awareness of the needs of others both in school and in the wider community, encouraging self–discipline and developing each child’s own confidence, independence and unique learning potential.

Children are introduced to a broad and balanced curriculum that lays particular emphasis on achieving high standards in literacy, numeracy and science as well as ensuring that French, art and design, physical education, I.C.T. and drama play an active and important part in the life of the department.

Within the Pre-Prep Department, there is a Nursery that caters for the youngest children. The ‘Early Years team’ provide a secure, organised and stimulating environment where pupils from the age of 2 are encouraged to develop their individual strengths. Confident, happy, interested learners move into the Reception class because of the excellent start they have had.
A Foundation Stage curriculum is carefully structured to develop the skills of language and literacy, numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world, as well as nurturing each child’s maximum potential in physical and creative development.

Our aim is to produce adaptable programmes of study that cater for all children on an individual basis. All pupils swim once a week at the Malvern College pool where they are taught by qualified swimming instructors and always with a lifeguard.

Recorder club
Music plays an important part of our curriculum. All pupils undertake a variety of musical activities. Children can choose to learn the recorder and piano if they wish. All pupils are taught ‘da Capo’ music which is taught by the Head of Strings at Malvern College and our music specialists teach singing. All pupils in the department take part in the autumn term production and our summer soiree. Speech and drama lessons are available for any child who wants to develop an interest.

As your child moves on into Year 2 around the age of 6 years they are introduced to the Prep School site. The children are enthusiastic about the changes and challenges that Malvern College Preparatory School has to offer and their confidence and self-assurance that has grown throughout the year is very evident as they visit areas on the Prep School site.
