The First XI regained the Old Boot trophy in a 5 -3 victory away against the Elms. Brett scored four of the goals, but it was the team performance, especially in the second half, that made the difference.

Two well-matched teams met at The Elms to contest the Old Boot Trophy. Tactically, both teams looked to counter attack at pace, which made for an open game of many chances. Malvern made the early inroads, but it was The Elms who came closest to the opening goal - Ramzan, the keeper, just managing to push the shot wide. Malvern's first came after two shots were blocked, Charlie notching from close range. The Elms surged back, missing three good chances before on the break; Gareth released Brett, who drew the keeper and scored.  At 2-0, Malvern began to look more comfortable, the back four adjusted to the numerous through balls and the constant threat from Elms corners was negated by some defensive repositioning. With time in the first half running out, The Elms pulled a goal back - a perfectly placed cross being met with a firm header. Not to be outdone, Brett latched on to a through ball to restore the two goal lead at half time.

The start of the second half saw Malvern dominate. Brett rattled the cross bar in the first few seconds, whilst Mark and Chris dominated possession at the back. Gareth was always a thorn in the Elms left flank, and creative running by Jeremy made space for Brett and Dan to run into. Twice Brett drove in from the left hand side to beat the keeper, whilst other chances came frequently. With the game seemingly won The Elms at last won some quality possession and pulled two goals back in the last five minutes, taking advantage of some careless defending, but it was too little too late.

The Second XI had another thoroughly enjoyable game. Jakob scored first for Malvern, before The Elms equalised and then took the lead. Jakob scored his second following a flowing move on the left hand side involving Ben and Sebastian to tie the game. The Elms hit the post in the dying seconds to leave both teams happy with a draw.
