The staff at Malvern College Pre-Prep is a dedicated, caring team. From the time they arrive in the morning they generate a warmth and happiness throughout the department. I often get asked the question “How long have my staff and I been here?"
I have been at Malvern College for some 17 years, 10 years as Head of Pre-Prep. I teach part time in Year 2 and I am timetabled in all other Forms at some point during the week. I live in Malvern and am married with a grown up family.
The other members of my team are Karen Mountain who joined us in 2001 and is curriculum co-ordinator for Hampton through to Year 4. She works closely with Denise Bowring, Hillstone’s Director of Studies. Karen is married and lives in Malvern.
Sarah Chappell is the Reception class teacher with the rewarding task of marrying the Foundation Stage subjects and areas of learning to complement the Pre-Prep curriculum, enabling a smooth transition into Year 1. Sarah lives in Malvern with her husband who is Head of English at Malvern College and they have a son and 3 daughters.
We have a newly qualified teacher, Liz Prosser, who, after qualifying from Cardiff last year, returned to Malvern and joined us as Form teacher to Year 1.
Julie Nugent who teaches our Nursery pupils is married and lives in Powick. Julie has 2 sons and identical twin daughters. Supporting Julie in the nursery are Sohnia Green and Linda Negrin-Torres who also has twins!
The Nursery has termly assistance from our Anzacs. These are our Australian and New Zealand gap year students who come to the Pre-Prep on a fortnightly rota to play in the sand, help with computer work or bring a story to life for our youngest pupils. This term we are joined by Victoria, Sam, AJ and Annie.
We have wonderful support from our teaching assistants, Caroline Smith and Rachel Cappalina, not only in the classroom but also taking part in Pre-Prep theme days or Christmas productions, together with the Nursery assistants. These are occasions, which the children thoroughly enjoy. On the domestic side we have Roy who keeps the house clean and tidy and our kitchen/domestic staff Lynne, Sarah and Kerry. In addition to this we have the advantage of being part of a much larger organisation where we have the support of the College Medical Centre, maintenance and ground staff and many other staff and assistants attached to the Prep School and Malvern College.
