Boys Boarding at Malvern College Preparatory School
 |
| Housemistress, Lesley-Anne Tulley, with boys in the House |
Cherbourg provides a happy and secure home for all boarding boys throughout their time at Malvern College Preparatory School. Central to our boarding ethos is that boys should be kind and considerate to each other. Our belief, confirmed by our ex-pupils, is that Cherbourg is, above all else, a happy place where boys can feel at ease and thrive.
At Malvern College Preparatory School, we strive to promote healthy eating with a varied selection of food on offer at meal times. A balanced diet is encouraged and those with special dietary needs are catered for. The three main meals, breakfast, lunch and tea, are taken in the main dining room. Supper is provided each evening in the tuck room. Each boarder has a tuck locker in the tuck room. A small amount of tuck is allowed on certain evenings. It has become a tradition for pupils (both day and boarders) to order a birthday cake for their birthdays for sharing between friends or their form group at tea time. As an alternative, Year 8 boarders sometimes have a pizza delivered.
All boarders are registered with the two school doctors. Minor ailments are dealt with in the boarding house but if a boy is unwell he is taken to the medical centre where nurses are on duty 24 hours a day.

Cherbourg is a happy ‘home from home’. Whilst many boys have their own mobile (cell) phones, the house has its own public phone. Communication with parents or guardian is also provided through the house computer, with boys having their own email address. The house has a television and Saturday evening is ‘video time’. The house is fully equipped with all modern appliances to make the boys’ relaxation time as enjoyable as possible.
The boys and staff are proud of our boarding house and we are always pleased to receive visitors to Cherbourg.

New boarders
Cherbourg has a full house this term, welcoming nine new boarders, all of whom have settled into our community with amazing ease. We also have the company of Kate Moxey. Kate has come as a boarding matron for this academic year before embarking on a Norland Nanny course in Bath. Amongst her many talents she is a harpist and enjoys singing.
