Drama at Malvern College Prep School
The performing arts form an important and stimulating part of Malvern College Prep School life. Drama, within English lessons, is enjoyed by all pupils, many of whom are given the opportunity to perform in the school drama productions.
Our school productions in recent years have covered a wide range of plays and musicals, from song and dance shows to full-length Shakespeare plays. With a policy of including all those who wish to take part, Malvern College Prep School productions regularly involve large casts - sometimes with over eighty in a show!
Pupils also have the opportunity to benefit from additional Speech and Drama tuition from qualified teachers. These lessons can take place as a group or on an individual basis and are geared towards LAMDA examinations and competition in the Hereford and Worcester Festivals.

Plenty of action in our drama lessons!
At Malvern College Prep School, we believe that drama and English are ‘good for your health!’ and should be fun. We work with commitment towards that objective: pupils are rarely sitting behind desks for long in our lessons! Our class sizes are ideal for English and drama work: small enough to permit individual attention, yet large enough to provide stimulating discussions and group activities.

Speech and Drama News
Without the pressure of LAMDA exams and festivals, and in a term which is otherwise quite busy, Speech and Drama pupils are exploring some new forms. They are experimenting with mime, self-devised work, or (for those who haven't done so before) verse reading and acting. Some of them are sharpening their audition and improvisation skills, or working with new partners. We plan to see where these pieces will take us, and perhaps perform for our peers or for other pupils in the school if they work out well. Parents, pupils and friends will also have the chance to see many of the Hereford and Worcester Festival prize-winners and drama award-winners in action at the end-of-year senior drama showcase in the Margaret Prior Hall on Tuesday 26 June at 2.30 (during Grandparents' Day).
