Sport at Malvern College Preparatory School
"In sport at the Prep School, we all learn to support and encourage each other.”
We recognise the contribution that good physical exercise can make towards the education of the whole person and the contribution that well-conducted team games make to promoting healthily competitive and cooperative outlooks (both necessary in the world of today).
Malvern College Preparatory School provides team sports in all traditional areas. Boys teams are fielded in soccer, rugby and cricket from under 8 through to under 13. Girls teams play netball, lacrosse and hockey in winter and rounders in summer. Mixed teams are organised for tennis, swimming, athletics and cross country to participate in local leagues.
Every pupil has the opportunity to represent the school and to enjoy playing as part of a team. Expert coaching is provided by the PE staff, assisted by enthusiastic members of the common room.
In addition to the major team activities, there are opportunities for pupils to take part in badminton, dance, gymnastics, table tennis, volleyball and basketball in a full and varied PE curriculum.
Facilities for sports at the Prep School are excellent and include a large, heated indoor sports hall and outdoor tennis and netball courts. We also have the use of Malvern College’s heated indoor swimming pool, which allows us to offer swimming all year round, a six-lane athletics track and extensive pitches for all seasonal sports.
