Summer Concert in Big School
Jul 6, 2007, 11:29
The Summer Concert held in Big School, Malvern College, proved as always to be a very entertaining evening, as around 400 pupils, parents and friends attended this annual musical climax of the school year. Pre-Prep performed extracts from their Minibeast production, and the violinists from Y2 presented their version of 'Grandfather's Clock'. Soloists India (trumpet), Claire (singing) and William M. (piano) performed with great panache, as did all the instrumental ensembles and choirs from the Prep School in a wide variety of items, delighting the enthusiastic audience and so providing a happy contrast to the foul weather!
| The orchestra began the concert with 'Galloping Home' from TV's 'Black Beauty' |
| India performed a haunting solo on trumpet |
| The three choirs sang a selection of songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber . . . |
| . . . and much more! |
| Claire sang a beautiful arrangement of 'Wind beneath my wings', which reduced many in the audience to tears! |
| Mrs Hill with three of the Year 2 violin group |
| Year 8 'cool' boys and girls performed their version of 'Summer Nights' from 'Grease' . . . |
| Angklung and Gamelan group performed a Javanese Gamelan piece entitled 'Rain in Bali' |
| . . and as pink as summer strawberries! |
| Soloists Julia, Hugo and Eleanor opened the final item 'Let There Be Peace', which was sung by everyone who had participated in the concert and accompanied by the orchestra |
