Healthy Lifestyle Award
Nov 7, 2007, 04:47
Pre-Prep’s
recent themed week ‘a Healthy Lifestyle’ was a very busy one. It began
with drill in the yard before school started each day. The children
thoroughly enjoyed this – though the same might not be said of the
staff! The rest of the week covered topics on road safety with the
nights drawing in, teeth and healthy eating.
For this aspect of the week, the school caterers Avenance brought their ‘Mini Giant’ to visit
us. We looked at foods and discussed what a healthy diet should be. The
children then had to taste a variety of foods and decide on which area
of the tongue they belonged: was it sweet or sour? Everyone enjoyed
this although Year Two were not very keen on the capers!
This
was all part of the work the staff are doing as part of
Worcestershire’s Healthy lifestyle pilot scheme, which we were elected
to take part in last term. Mrs Walters was pleased to attend a
presentation ceremony just before half term when she was presented with
the Bronze Award on completion of the first part of the pilot scheme.
The Pre-Prep is now working towards the silver award.
