All entrants into the Lower School ( years 9 or 10 ) arrive a day early for an induction process. They are welcomed by House Staff and the Head of House. Later they meet the Head of the Foundation Year, who organises the induction programme, included in which are meetings with the Chaplain and the Senior Tutor. These meetings, together with the valuable New Pupils' Guide ensure that new pupils are aware of the extent of pastoral care that is available to them. During the first day the induction programme includes meetings with the Directors of Art, Music and Drama. There is also an opportunity to try some sports, such as Fives and Rackets, which are probably new to the pupils. Also during this first day there is the opportunity for new entrants to get acquainted with the school campus. A walk on the Malvern Hills and a barbecue in the first week provide a useful, initial contact with their tutors and peers.
All new members of the Sixth Form also arrive a day early and meet with the Headmaster and Senior Tutor for a similar induction. A barbecue is held by the headmaster on their first full day at Malvern. There is also a Sixth Form disco on the first Saturday night of term.
All pupils attend an Extra Curricular Fair at the start of term. This enables pupils to get details of the many activities on offer.
